No regrets, that's my motto. That and everybody wang chung tonight.
Actually, this Buffalo general manager seems to be a moron. Check out some of these beauties:
To Buffalo: Anders Eriksson, $100,000 To LA Kings: BUF 2006 Rnd 7
Anytime you give up ANYTHING for Anders Eriksson, you made a mistake.
To Vancouver: Shane Doan To Buffalo: Daniel Paille, Radim Vrbata, Karri Ramo
That...did not work out.
To Anaheim: James Wisniewski, Martin Hanzal To Buffalo: Kurt Sauer, ANH 2006 Rnd 5, ANH 2007 Rnd 5
Yuck is as light as I can comment on the message board.
To Buffalo: Brent Seabrook To Carolina: Dave Bolland, BUF 1 2010, BUF 2009 Rnd 1, $500,000
You have to try pretty effing hard to make a worse deal than that.
To Atlanta: Brent Seabrook, Lee Stempniak, Cody Goloubef, OTT 2009 Rnd 2 To Buffalo: Ethan Moreau, Mattias Ohlund
Unless you follow it up with that. Wow.
Pretty impressive track record in Buffalo eh?

I regretted this trade after the season was over. But looking back, it wasn't too bad, the only two guys i regret moving was Butler and Varlamov.
To Chicago: Andrew Alberts, Josef Vasicek, Josh Hennessy, Lauri Korpikoski, Chris Butler, Semen Varlamov To Calgary: Brad Lukowich, John Madden _____________________________________________________________
Jeff lasted just the remainder of the season before going to UFA. I did get my 1st back for a 3rd because I couldn't sign him.
To Calgary: Jeff Friesen To Atlanta: Troy Brouwer, Ryan Parent, CGY 2007 Rnd 1 ______________________________________________________________
Roger, remember this one, my very 1st trade. aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrg.
To Calgary: Jaromir Jagr, $5,000,000 To Buffalo: Jaroslav Svoboda, Toni Lydman, CGY 2005 Rnd 1, CGY 2006 Rnd 3, CGY 2007 Rnd 3, CGY 2008 Rnd 1 _____________________________________________________________
This was painful to look back on. What was I thinking? I was trying to dump salary since I lost a lot of cash that year. Had a payroll at one point upwards of 67 mill I think.
Nice selling job Rob.
To Calgary: Chris Heid, COL 7 2005 (214th), Jonas Johansson, NSH 2005 Rnd 5 To Colorado: Rod Brind'Amour

Yep, I have you all beat:
To LA Kings: Richard Zednik, NYI 2009 Rnd 4 To Islanders: Nigel Williams, COL 2009 Rnd 1, $2,500,000
The COL 2009 Rnd 1 was...yes, the 1st overall pick of the 2009 draft (John Tavares).
I traded John Tavares for Richard Zednik.
Haunting.

However, I did PRECEDE that above awful trade with this gem: Look closely....it's John Tavares (which I squandered to Richard Zednik), Alex Goligoski, and Peter Regin (all playing very well in the NHL) for Lidstrom.
To LA Kings: Alex Goligoski, Peter Regin, COL 2009 Rnd 1 To Washington: Nicklas Lidstrom, $4,000,000

My 1st trade ever is one that haunts me the most. To this day I think Jason brought me into the league so he could do this trade.
To Chicago: Ilja Bryzgalov To New Jersey: Michal Barinka, Mikhail Yakubov, CHI 2005 Rnd 8

As a former Trade-a-holic, there are a number of deals I regret. But these three really did me no favours, which left me scratching my head.
1) TO CAROLINA: ALEXANDRE BURROWS, JOSH GORGES, MARK FISTRIC, ZACH HAMILL, SJ 2008 RND 1, VAN 2008 RND 5, OTT 2008 RND 6, OTT 2008 RND 7 TO ATLANTA: MARK PARRISH, SHELDON SOURAY, DAVID VAN DER GULIK, KYLE CUMISKEY
** I have one player left from this trade that's of NsHL calibre and that's Cumiskey. Van Der Gulik's in the minors and will likely stay there. The other two are AWOL.
____________________________
2) TO NASHVILLE: KENDAL MCARDLE, TAYLOR CHORNEY, ANH 08 RND 2, ATL 2009 RND 1 TO ATLANTA: SCOTT HARTNELL
** I gave up the 8th overall pick and a decent second rounder for a player who wouldn't last three months on our roster. During his tenure, Hartnell, playing first and second line minutes contributed a total of 2 goals and three assists in 25 games.
___________________________________
3) TO NASHVILLE: MARK GIORDANO, CLB 2008 RND 5 TO ATLANTA: MARTIN GERBER
** Uh, yeah, I think this one was a little lop sided as well. Giordano will look real nice with a re-rate this year. I remember I only moved him because he'd signed in the KHL. I didn't expect him to come back and be the NHL Flames best defenseman this season. Who did?
_______________________________
Honorable mention goes to this trade with Spenny:
To Washington: Scottie Upshall and Andrew Cogliano To Atlanta: Jason Pominville
Enough said.
